The Recovery Skills Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of a recovery skills program focused on promoting and strengthening the student’s ability to return to the community as a highly functioning member of society.
Additionally, a small caseload will be maintained to provide assistance to individual students in their efforts to develop and maintain a strong recovery.
Provide comprehensive psycho-educational groups on such core subjects as the six foundations of recovery; the disease of addiction and recovery lessons
Provide a group focused on employing basic recovery tools including a sober support system; a sponsor and the 12 steps as part of an effective relapse prevention strategy
Develop and implement a set of criteria to evaluate the progress of students in strengthening and promoting their respective recoveries
Maintain a small caseload of students to provide services to primarily promote and strengthen self development through recovery and other rehabilitative therapies. Appropriate documentation will be maintained for evaluative purposes
Performs other duties as may be requested.
Master’s degree in social work with experience working with homeless veterans and their efforts to recover from addictive behaviors. License is preferred. Outgoing, caring and sensitive to the needs of homeless veterans within the State of Maryland and the City of Baltimore. Minimum of five years experience as a social worker with duties with duties in gathering and inputting data. Must have or be willing to obtain computer skills to access data, compile results and complete reports.
